Swedish Massage Therapy
Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage. Long massage strokes follow the direction of blood
flow toward the heart to stimulate blood circulation in addition to relieving muscle tension, increasing circulation, range of motion and enhanced relaxation. As an added benefit, Swedish Massage improves muscle injury recovery time by speeding up the removal of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. The increased blood circulation carries the toxins away from the tissues to organs such as the kidneys and lungs where they are expelled from the body. Light to medium pressure will relax, revitalize and renew the whole body and mind.

Prenatal Massage Therapy
Prenatal Massage shares many of the goals of a regular massage but is tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. The aches and pains are so different, and so are the remedies. Not only can Prenatal
massage alleviate muscle strains and stress on your back, neck, abdomen, and shoulders, it can also significantly reduce
anxiety and serve as a supplement to complete prenatal care. Restrictions may apply.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the
body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas. Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure across the grain of the muscles while breaking up and eliminating scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage.

Myofascial Release Massage Therapy
Myofascial Release Massage is a hands on soft tissue release technique which often includes structural and functional assesment to determine which tissues may be causing dysfunction and pain. Fascia is the thin layer of connective tissue
between the skin and the muscles (superficial fascia) or more extensive is the deep fascia which holds the muscles together
but also separates them into functional groups. Deep fascia, when functioning properly, allows muscles to move independently
of each other without impingement on surrounding nerves and blood vessels. The objective of myofascial release is to identify shortened and or restricted myofascial tissue (deep myofascia is usually the culprit) and adhesions between muscles and
muscle groups. Using steady directionally focused pressure, fascial restrictions and adhesions are normalized, resulting in elimination of pain, increased range of motion and rebalancing of the body's interdependant web of myofascia.

Lymph Drainage Massage Therapy
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle but powerful technique, the aim of which is to accelerate Lymph flow through
stimulation of Lymphangions and their relfex response. Lymphangions are the basic functional unit of the
lymph vesssels - visualize a string of pearls, each pearl would be a lymphangion. The string represents a lymph vessel, when a lymphangion senses, through its reflex arc, that is filled with lymph fluid, it contracts to move the fluid along the lymph vessel.
Fluid eventually rejoins your veinous system and the excess is removed by your kidneys. Lymph draingage helps in this manner to increase the rate of lymphanion contraction and lymph flow. Alexandra Vainer is using Dr. Vodder method of manual lymph drainage. Many of San Francisco/Bay Area top plastic surgeons refer their patients to Alexandra after lyposuction,
abdominoplasty and facelifts.
